“Each patient
carries his own doctor inside him. They come to us not knowing that
truth. We are at our best when we give the doctor who resides within
each patient a chance to work.” ~Albert Schweitzer, M.D.

Dr. Nicholas A. Tivoli and Dr. Joan P. Norton are graduates of Sherman
College of Chiropractic. They are much sought after as two of the
nation’s few Network Spinal Analysis chiropractors, a rapidly growing
group of highly-educated, highly-intuitive healing facilitators who
have learned how to free the body of obstructions to its innate
healing power.
Dr. Norton and Dr. Tivoli have refined and integrated dozens of
healing techniques into their practice, such as Cranial-Sacral,
Kinesiology, Palmer, Logan Basic, Gonstead, Diversified, Cerebral
Spinal Fluid Technique, Network Spinal Analysis, Bio-Geometric Integration (BGI), Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique (BEST), JIW (Deepak Chopra), Torque Release, Directional Non-Force Technique (DNFT), and others such as
directional non-force adjustments. Dr. Norton and Dr. Tivoli are
devoting their lives to helping individuals reconnect, naturally and
safely, with their own internal healing forces.
Dr. Norton and Dr. Tivoli are committed to educating the public,
through a lecture series, and in print, about methods that promote
strengthening the body’s own miraculous healing system.
Joan’s Story
Strange as it may sound, a heart attack saved my life. I had suffered
with a host of ailments for years including migraines, allergies, lack
of energy and a number of other bothersome symptoms. I sought medical
advice, but my doctors simply prescribed one medication and then
another. The medications did little for my symptoms and instead caused
further complications and often impaired my ability to function. Since
my state of “dis-ease” was not being properly listened to by means of
this set of symptoms, it expressed itself instead in the form of a
heart attack.
My heart attack at age 35 initially left me terrified. A single
mother, I agonized over whether I would be able to care for my 9
year-old daughter. What if I could never work again?
Three months after my heart attack, I developed an excruciatingly
stiff and painful neck and decided to start seeing a chiropractor that
was recommended to me by a friend. How thankful I am now for this
string of events, for the pain in my back and neck brought me into the
world of chiropractic --- a world I had previously known nothing
about.
Several sessions after I started seeing a chiropractor, I began
noticing that my migraine headaches had disappeared. A month later I
no longer needed my allergy shots. Several months after that, I was
off all heart medication. Two weeks after all those symptoms vanished,
my neck finally felt at-ease. I felt such joy and awe at the healing
power of my body. I had been given my life back!
My intense desire to give back to others for all I had received led me
to work as an administrator for my chiropractor. Meanwhile, a friend
of mine had started practicing Network Chiropractic, a subtle yet
powerful form of chiropractic, which I decided to explore. To my
amazement, Network Chiropractic literally changed my life. I was not
only getting physical relief, I was also experiencing for the first
time the fullness of what chiropractic had promised – uniting man the
physical with man the spiritual.
So important were my Network adjustments to me that I would make a
ten-hour drive to Indianapolis in order to be adjusted for one week of
each month and did this for about two years.
Because I had experienced such deep transformations from the Network
process and had watched others benefit greatly as well, I began
considering going back to school in order to practice Network
Chiropractic myself. It was certainly one of the most difficult
decisions I had ever contemplated --- the idea of going back to school
at my stage in life seemed daunting. Nonetheless, the voice of my
heart was so persistent and the power of this work so clear to me that
I finally decided to take the leap.
At age 45, I returned to school to become a doctor of Chiropractic. At
53, I graduated from Sherman College of Chiropractic in South Carolina
where classmate Nicholas Tivoli and I deepened our rapport. We formed
a partnership and took another leap, setting up practice in Tucson ---
a city where we knew no one.
Once again, following the heart’s intuition proved a good thing. Today
our practice is flourishing. Every day we see profound, even
miraculous changes in practice members. We continue to marvel at the
body’s amazing capacity to heal itself when obstructions and
interference patterns are released. It is a great joy and blessing to
do this work, not only because it is a profound and honoring process,
but also because it is the most effective method I know of for helping
individuals achieve their maximum potential in health and wholeness.
Nicholas’ Story
All my life, I had adored my older brother Michael. He was my hero.
When Michael attended Chiropractic College, I followed. But then a
tragic event occurred that reshaped my life --- just three days before
his graduation from chiropractic school, my brother was murdered.
Overwhelmed by grief, I began to question my whole life. Was
chiropractic really my calling or had I been simply following in my
brother’s footsteps?
It was during this dark night of the soul that Joan convinced me to
try Network Chiropractic. She told me of its effectiveness in helping
the body-mind release energy-blockages (subluxations) that occur from
physical and emotional imprints. I decided to follow her
recommendation to try Network Chiropractic – I am forever grateful
that I did.
Although I had worked with a variety of other healing modalities (i.e.
psychology, body-work and eastern healing traditions), none of these
modalities reached me as quickly and as deeply as did Network. The
adjustment process allowed me to work through my unexpressed rage at
the loss of my brother and to eventually find peace and ease in my
body and life. Although the process of learning to trust my body’s own
wisdom was at times difficult, the result of the process was a freedom
and clarity like I had never experienced before.
In addition to releasing my grief, I also became clear about my life’s
purpose. I had realized that the dream to help others in their journey
toward health and wholeness was indeed my heart’s desire --- a dream
inspired by my brother --- yet one that emerged from the depths of my
own heart as well. I, like Joan, had experienced such deep physical as
well as emotional healing from this process that I too decided to
train as a Network Chiropractor.
When Joan and I first moved to Tucson to start our practice, we faced
countless challenges. For the first year and one half, I drove a
cement truck by day and delivered pizza at night so that Joan could
keep the office open. Yet our commitment to manifesting our dream was
unwavering. Today we are rewarded for that commitment by the many
testimonials of practice members who share with us their stories of
healing, growth and transformation.
Our partnership has yielded unexpected benefits. Our difference in age
and gender help to meet the varying preferences of new practice
members as well as provides a unique synergy that complements the
healing process. Joan and I also make sure that we adjust each other
every day --- sometimes several times a day. We have found that these
regular adjustments are indispensable for keeping our nervous systems
clear from interference --- thus allowing us to be more effective in
assisting practice members on their healing journeys.
Network Chiropractic has changed my life on both a physical and
spiritual level so dramatically that I feel there is really no other
choice for me than to practice chiropractic in this manner. Doing
anything else would seem like I was giving less than I have received.
