"As human beings,
our greatness lies
not so much in being able to remake the world
- that's the myth of the atomic age -
as in being able to remake ourselves."
~Mahatma Gandhi
OPEN
WIDE AND SAY AHHHHHHH !
By Jan Henrikson
2003
When
Barbara Streisand belts out the title song from the movie, "On A Clear
Day You Can See Forever," she could very well be singing about the Clear
Day that took place on November 4th at the Viscount Hotel.
In
this Clear Day you may sing or honk or laugh or cry as you clear out
old patterns, emotions, memories, joys, traumas, anything that is held
in the body and no longer serves you. You don't release these blocks
alone, but in a room filled with other people engaged in the same process.
Presented by Dr.'s. Joan Norton and Nicholas Tivoli, co-founders of
at-ease Wellness Center; a Clear Day is an intense magnification of
their daily work using Classic Network protocol. A day buoyed by the
spirit of --- yes, geese.
Geese
show devotion and harmony in their group flights. Clear Day's group
participants follow their example. "As each goose flaps its wings, it
creates an uplift for the bird following," says a Clear Day Handout,
'Lesson from the Geese.' "By following a V-formation, the whole flock
adds 71% more flying range than if each bird flew alone."
In
a sense, Clear Day is a group flight. These participants, however, take
flight on adjusting tables to higher levels of consciousness, rather
than the far off skies of the geese flight
As
Dr. Tivoli explains, "For the entire day, you are with a group of people
committed to your healing process. As you stay in that supportive environment,
your nervous system becomes clearer and clearer. Energy from the group
builds during the day and you are riding on the uplift of energy created
by the group. Many new friendships and very strong bonds are created
that day. That makes healing easier and a lot more fun."
Just
as in their regular practice, Norton and Tivoli move from table to table,
guiding each person in his or her own process of transformation. Lightly,
they tap and touch the body, locating and adjusting the subluxation
complex. These touches catalyze releases of energy.
As
Dr. Norton says, "The nervous system facilitates the innate ability
of the body to self-repair. When the nervous system is cleared from
interference the body will heal itself. It is always the body that does
the healing. The power that made the body can heal the body."
Interference
may appear as emotional, physical, or chemical stresses. The stresses
may be released through sound, movement, or breath. One participant
may scream and then fall into silent breathing. Someone else may cry
and move with the grace of a mythic mermaid. Another may laugh, darting
her hands and feet in the air, until she too cries and then laughs again.
Clearing
is not a competitive sport. "Our goal is never to judge another's process.
You have not lived their life in their bodies."
Yet
each person's process impacts the group.
According
to Dr. Norton, "If you play a certain note on a violin while standing
near a piano, the piano string corresponding to the violin note will
start to vibrate. This is called resonance. If the piano did not have
the corresponding string, it could not resonate. It's the same with
emotions. Another person can't make you angry. What happens is, the
other plays the emotion of anger, and any corresponding anger that is
already in you resonates. That is what happens on the table when one
person laughs or cries and then others join in."
She
adds, "You don't have to spend the rest of your life vibrating to your
own or others' negative emotions. Stresses you long ago forgot on the
conscious level are still sending out signals making you anxious, tense,
fatigued, apprehensive, resentful, doubtful, disappointed. Practice
members of at-ease have made the choice to release old patterns of blocked
energies stored in their physical body. Releasing these blockages changes
your vibration and allows you to more fully express the life force within."
"Adjustments
give the person the freedom to write the symphony of his or her choice.
Rather than being limited to one or two notes or tones, they can choose
from a full range of tones or vibrations and create whatever symphony
they desire. That is self-empowerment and freedom. AHHHHHHH !"
Speech
therapist Carole Wothe was among those creating AHHHHHHH ! at the November
4th Clear Day. In addition to multiple Classic Network adjustments,
this Clear Day offered The Power of the Breath, facilitated by Jim Parker,
a guided meditation led by Patrick Daugherty, and Golden Age Tai Chi
taught by Robert Firestine. All activities offered during the day were
carefully selected to help integrate the adjustments.
"It
was a phenomenal day," says Wothe. "I was dealing with a nagging ache
in my back which is now gone. Old grieving issues just exploded away.
I've made huge strides. I'm so grateful. Dr.'s. Norton and Tivoli never
push you too hard. They know just how far to take you."
Wothe
is a regular practice member at at-ease, which means she receives adjustments
on a regular basis. Why would anyone receiving regular adjustments need
a Clear Day?
"Healing
is a process, not an event," says Dr. Tivoli. "After a Clear Day, those
who are receiving regular adjustments, are even more encouraging and
accepting of theirs and others' healing processes. The day is a way
to accelerate their process."
Network
has certainly accelerated Kim Dailey's entire life. Dailey moved to
Tucson from Chicago in August. Her back was literally locked up during
the drive. For the next two months, "my energy was low, motivation was
even lower, and I was quite depressed. I was beginning to think the
move was a mistake. The job search was taking its toll on my confidence."
She
began seeing Dr.'s. Tivoli and Norton in October. Within a couple of
weeks, she'd found a job. She started running again. "Network eases
the tensions of being in a new city and not knowing anyone." Although
Dailey received five years of Network adjustments in Chicago, she witnessed
more releases in her first appointment at at-ease than she had in all
those years. She believes that is due to the accepting, nonjudgmental
atmosphere Norton and Tivoli provide.
Norton
and Tivoli receive as much as they give. Dr. Norton says they "feel
unending joy watching people unfold. A Clear Day is like watching flowers
in a tight little bud unfold in a brilliant display of beauty. Like
time-lapsed photography. The day is a great spiritual gift to us."
That
day and every day involved in this process is a gift to them. " A nervous
system in a state of ease is more in touch with True Self. It goes beyond
wellness. Ease allows you more freedom, abundance, and the ability to
express your full potential. Ease allows you to experience a connection
with your spiritual source. Norton says. "From our consciousness, the
social ills, the psychological disturbances, and our spiritual alienation
cannot be separated from the physical state we experience today. The
adjustment process is like removing the petals from the artichoke and
arriving at the heart."
Once
at the heart, people experience a profound sense of connection with
everything and everyone. That connection can manifest in surprising
ways. On this Clear Day of deep renewal and rebirth at the Viscount,
a group of people in a nearby banquet room suddenly burst out with a
rousing, "Happy Birthday!"
Barbara
Streisand, the day couldn't be any clearer.
